Retired Marine General John Kelly, up till 1972 was an enlisted man in the Marine Corps. He was stationed at the 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
It was an absolute disgrace, that while many U.S. Marines were fighting in Vietnam, other white and black Marines stationed back at Camp Lejeune were engaging each other in major gang fights.
There was clear cut evidence that white Marines under Kelly's charge, as an infantry sergeant, were, among many others, exacerbating racial tensions on the base. In fact, racial tensions had become so bad at Camp Lejeune, that even seasoned combat veterans were afraid to walk around at night.
Fast forwarding to the year 2017, I didn't believe retired Marine General John Kelly to be any different of a person. I was right. As President Trump's White House Chief of Staff, General Kelly was quoted as praising the pro-slavery Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee as an “honorable man".
The plain pure fact is, General John Kelly has never been a “great guy”, much less one of the Marine Corps, "Few Good Men". Kelly was a bully, a bigot, and a liar; Additionally, General John Kelly was as racist and reactionary as his boss, President Donald Trump.
Bottom line, Marine Corps retired General and former White House Chief of Staff, John Kelly, played the same leadership roles throughout his life.
And, in the end, John Kelly was simply a catalyst for some of Donald Trump’s worst crimes that he committed while President of the United States.
